The Muromachi Tanto, offered in2 quality grades is one of the three wooden practice weapons used in Aikido. It's a wooden version of the short tanto (dagger) used extensively during the Muromachi period, carried secretly and frequently used without warning. The Kingfisher Muromachi tanto is 10" overall length with a hilt (tsuka) of 4". In comparison to the bokken and jo, the strategies to counter this weapon have a direct relevance to modern self defense against knife attack.
