The highest quality bokken, our enhanced versions, are available in several styles, each one suitable for different practices and martial schools. Use the following recommendations to narrow down your search for the best design.
Enhanced Aikiken Bokken - Designed for aikido practice but good for all around dojo use, this premium L7 hand cut bokken is medium in weight, length, curvature and thickness. Perfect for travel where a versatile bokken is needed. Available with optional tsuba (hand guard).
Enhanced Shinto Bokken - This premium enhanced bokken is medium in weight, length, curvature and thickness. A close interpretation of a katana interpreted in wood, its fully resolved sword style point makes it ideal for iai practice. Available in All Japan Kendo Federation specs for Kendo practitioners. Available with optional tsuba (hand guard).
Enhanced Iwama Bokken - Heavy, forward balanced, blunt tipped, this premium hand cut version is specific to Takemusu Aiki Aikido. It's shape is stout, without ornamentation, intended for training the fundamentals of open hand techniques of Aikido rather than the development of sword skills alone. This bokken is not used with a tsuba (hand guard).
Enhanced Kenjutsu Bokken - The premium enhanced kenjutsu bokken lends itself to several customization including length and balance properties. It's often used with long tsuka (haft) and is the best choice for those seeking a custom bokken. Available with optional tsuba (hand guard).
Enhanced Yagyu Bokken - Thin, light, fast. Used for evasive and precision maneuvers rather than hard contact. This enhanced version is one of the most beautiful and elegant of wooden swords. It's specific to the historic Yagyu Ryu however, it's a wonderful bokken for those in other practices seeking a light weight and responsive design. It's not used with a tsuba (hand guard)
Enhanced Katori Bokken - A specialized bokken of the Katori Shinto Ryu, the enhanced version captures the best of the old-school (koryu) designs with its relatively short length (38.5") and koshi-zori curvature yields a unique feeling of power and leverage. It's not used with a tsuba (hand guard).
