The wooden Kingfisher Self defense cane is designed as a walking cane but combines the best attributes of a mobility aid with the best features of a defensive staff.

Made of quality grade L7 Appalachian hickory, the SD cane is tough and reliable. Options include multiple lengths, 3 color choices, weight loaded handle, lanyard, rugged carbide tip, and multiple engraving choices.

All canes are supplied with an elegant clear rubber tip. The tip fits with or without the carbide tip option!

The self defense cane design bears some similarity in concept to the shillelagh but differs from ball or knob handled canes in that the grip is comfortable and better for bearing weight. The design is also inconspicuous and superior to steam-bent crook type canes in that the handle has substantial mass, like a wooden mallet, which is very noticeably increased with the "weight loading" option. Wielding the cane from the tip end allows the user to maintain an assailant at a safe distance, without being limited to pulling or entangling an adversary at close quarters.

Notes on lead loading: A 3/4" hole, bored into the body of the handle, is filled with lead shot and bound in an epoxy matrix. This adds about 3 oz of weight to the head which, while very noticeable and hard hitting, improves balance while still ensuring excellent maneuverability. The lead is completely isolated from the user with a type of epoxy resin which is considered food grade when cured.

Check your correct length from the pull-down menu! 34" is the default length (as this is kind of average) but it may not be right for you. To determine your correct length, check out the image above. In general, the distance from the ground to your wrist bone is considered the standard length for a cane. Make sure you're standing in a relaxed, straight position. It might be best to have someone else help as it's difficult to measure yourself accurately.

Hi Brad I received the bokken and OH MY GOD, it is beautiful I almost don't want to use it, it looks so good. The jo and tanto are awesome too. One question on the bamboo tsuba, when I try to fit it, it got to 3/4 of the length of where it's supposed to be at the beginning of the tsuka. I didn't want to jam it in there forcefully, so is there a proper technique to install the tsuba? I'm assuming that I put an o-ring on each side of the tsuba. Makers response-Thanks so much! Tsuba are custom fit to individual bokken. They are intended to be a little snug at first however, they will seat into the transition ramp after a bit of use.

Hello, I'm mailing you to let you know i received the 42" aikiken i ordered near the beginning of the month. it is of the best quality i've ever seen. awesome, awesome sword, thank you! the grain on the chisel top is wild, changing color from light to dark with movement and the patterns within the wood make me feel like i'm handling a much more expensive piece of art. i hope to take care of it well enough to hand it down to my children! i can't wait to order another one of your wooden weapons. hopefully soon! - Andrew
