The Jo is made in 1 inch or 15/16 inch diameter and various lengths to fit personal needs. A simple, straight staff of unassuming character, the jo is nevertheless extremely effective in skilled hands and is closely linked with the Japanese sword. These staffs are commonly used in the practice of Aikido, are inconspicuous and preferred by some martial artists above all other weapons. These weapons are shaped to the same specifications as the more expensive hand cut jo but is offered in wood grade levels 3 - 5 and have a more economical sanded finish.
